Meet the Teacher is tonight and I’m looking forward to introducing myself to the families of PDCS!

However, life can be busy and I know not all families will be available to come and  meet me.  If you’re not going to make it tonight – no worries use this post as a Virtual Meet the Teacher.

I thought I’d use this post to explain a little more about me, and my goals for the start of the year.

First, I am a new teacher to PDCS and I’d like to introduce myself.  My name is Mr. D. (Dustin) Carson.  I am entering my eighth year of teaching.  My specialist is Phys-ed and I have some expertise in embedding technology to support many different learning goals.  Regardless of the subject I work hard to put the needs of each student first!  Early in my Education Journey I found a quote that supports my teaching philosophy.

Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.–William James

I know I have the ability to make a difference, so I strive to make school a positive place to be.   At anytime throughout the year if you would like to meet and discuss the needs of a student, then do not hesitate to set up a meeting.  Also, I encourage students to ask for help when they need it.  Communicating needs is important to assist me in developing strategies that will help accomplish individual goals.

I hope to help my class develop a variety of skills that will help them be successful in whatever pathway they decide to take.  To start the year I have a class goal of helping students improve their Learning Skills.  We will completing many activities that are designed to improve their independent work, and organization.  As a student progresses further into their education they have more responsibility, and just like other skills it takes practice.   If you notice them falling behind –  encourage them to ask for help – my door is always open.

Again, I look forward to meeting all of you at 6 – 7 tonight, but if you were unable to make it feel free to stop in and introduce yourself when you can.
